| The space shuttles can not fly on their own within the earths atmosphere. They were not built to fly as planes. In fact, they must glide to a landing after re-entry from space. This is a photo of a shuttle being trans[ported "piggyback" by a modified Boing 747, probably to another base for maintenance, repair or refurbishing. |
